Ancestral First Ingots
The First Ingots a dwarf inherits from ancestors, kept apart as a physical genealogy.
Inheritance
A dwarf’s own First Ingot is the paramount personal heirloom, but inherited First Ingots carry almost equivalent weight. Each ancestor’s is a discrete, revered object, inherited intact and kept distinct from general wealth. It is never recast or merged into the ordinary hoard.
A dwarf with several generations of them may build a separate hoard, a physical genealogy in which each ingot stands for a generation of demonstrated solidity. You can count the generations from the stack.
Status
This is a status current wealth cannot replicate. A dwarf with seven ancestral ingots and modest means makes a different and more durable claim to respectability than a newly wealthy dwarf with no lineage to show. New money is legible as new money, and depth of lineage cannot be acquired quickly.
All other inherited wealth, whether ordinary ingots, bullion, or goods, is simply wealth. It carries no special symbolic weight however many hands it has passed through.
