Clove oil

Clove oil is drawn from the clove, a costly spice of far countries, whose dried flower buds flavor food and perfume the breath. Healers and householders use the oil to numb a toothache and as an antiseptic for small wounds. It is also used in perfumes and to flavor medicines, and it keeps biting insects away. It is also held to ease the stomach and to settle sickness. It is strong, however. It is harsh on the skin, harmful if swallowed in quantity, and pregnant women are warned away from it.
