Dandelion
Dandelion is a common weed, and also a food and a medicine. Its young leaves are eaten in spring, and healers use the leaves and root as a diuretic and as a tonic for the liver and the digestion. Its name comes from the French for lion’s tooth, after the shape of its leaves. The French also call it pissenlit, for its effect, and in England it is said that a child who picks it will wet the bed that night.
