Hawthorn
A thorny tree of hedges, held a ward and a danger by old lore that learned people now doubt, though belief remains in the Markish backwaters.
Hawthorn
Hawthorn is a thorny tree of hedges, whose spring blossom crowns the festivals of the year. Old lore holds it a powerful influence for good or ill, a protection and a sacrifice, and holds it unlucky to bring the blossom indoors. Healers use the flowers and berries for the heart and the digestion. Learned and modern people hold the lore of hawthorn to be probably untrue, and doubters have been found in every age, but belief in it remains in the Markish backwaters.
