White Bryony
A climbing plant with a great root that healers use as a purge, too poisonous for general use, and often sold as false mandrake.
White bryony
White bryony is a climbing plant with a great root, which often grows in the shape of a human figure. Healers use the root as a purge, but its action is violent, and the plant is too poisonous for general use. Because the root resembles that of the rarer and dearer mandrake, it is often sold in its place, and it is called English mandrake or false mandrake. It is said to serve in love charms.
Black bryony is a different plant, though the two have been confused.
