Black bryony

Black bryony is a climbing plant of the hedgerows with bright berries, and every part of it is acrid and poisonous. It is not related to white bryony, though the two have been confused. In some districts it is called mandrake or adder’s meat. Country people keep it as a remedy for chilblains, but it is too poisonous for general use.
