The royal charters that permit a lord to mint coin, issued as political grants.

The charter

Permission to mint your own coin is a charter, issued or withdrawn by a king to allow a lord to increase liquidity. Charters are political grants, given to placate or reward lords. Many benefits accrue to such a lord in prestige. The Skelds are the contrast: a Skeldic warlord with a following needs no permission to mint his own rings.
