Skeldic Rings
Rings that Skeldic lords award to their warriors, some for honor and some to carry value.
Two kinds
Some are given for honor, and tend to be ceremonial and highly revered. Honor rings are almost always silver, belong to the same family of objects as the witnessed rings of ring-sworn oaths, and could in theory be used as currency. The others are meant to carry value, and are designed to be broken for hacksilver.
Commercial rings
Since dwarves also make bracelets, the commercial rings are probably somewhat minted, with detailed engravings. A Skeldic lord with skilled gem artisans might have "mere commercial rings" as ornate as some more rustic lord’s honor rings.
In general Skeldic culture, any warlord with a following has the option to "mint" his own rings. It is preposterous that he would need permission.
Breaking an honor ring
Breaking up or disposing of an honor ring should typically be done only under extreme need, and culturally it requires an apology to the lord. The practice is complicated but socially understood. Skeldic culture is honor-based, and acknowledging loyalty is important.
